August marked an extraordinary month of celebration and love for the Williams family, with two momentous events that warmed our hearts and created lasting memories.
A Century of Life’s Richness: Hillis Turns 100
On August 5 we rejoiced as my father, Hillis Williams, achieved this incredible milestone. Family and Friends gathered in his backyard to honor his legacy and the celebration featured a delightful BBQ feast. There were delicious contributions from many of us who were the happy recipients of his life-long passion for cooking simple pleasures.
His two younger granddaughters made the birthday “cake” – 8 of his favorite pies! We raised our glasses in a champagne toast to his health and continued journey.
Hillis’s career as a drama professor at De Anza College in Cupertino was celebrated by former colleagues who shared cherished recollections. You may recall Hillis’ later-life career as a talented rug craftsman, and I am thrilled to report that his creativity continues to flourish.

A Radiant Union: Beth’s Wedding
On August 12 we witnessed the union of hearts as my daughter Beth married Corey Beausoleil of Rhode Island. They exchanged vows in the enchanting setting of Saratoga Springs in Silicon Valley. Beth, armed with a Berkeley MBA and a background at Google, founded her own company, which is dedicated to empowering women through financial planning. Corey, a Physician’s Assistant specializing in brain and spinal surgeries, brings healing to those in need.
Their four-year journey to marriage was a path of shared passions and laughter, ignited by a dating app. We got to see their profiles and I learned that my daughter had taken up guitar! following in her grandmother’s footsteps. As we shared in Beth’s joy, their commitment to each other, their families, and their friends was an inspiration for all of us.
